Coldstream is about 12.5 miles from Paxton and will take about 1hr 5 mins. It a pleasant journey although somewhat hilly. However, at one point you are rewarded with a brief view of the River Tweed.
1. Leave Paxton via the B6461 heading towards Kelso. Press on along the road, passing Winfield Farm on your right until you you reach a turning for the B6437 on you left for Coldstream. Take this turning and continue along this road until you reach the crossroads. Go straight over and continue to follow the B6437 towards Coldstream. Continue along this hilly road for several miles, passing the gates to Ladykirk House until eventually you will catch a brief glimpse of the River Tweed on you left. When you reach a T junction turn left onto the A6112 and follow the road through the village of Lennel and downhill into Coldstream.

3. To return to Paxton either retrace your steps or for a slightly alternative route retrace your steps out of Coldstream via the A6112 but do NOT turn off, continue along this road in the direction of Duns until you reach Simprim.

4. Press on through Simprim until you reach the village of Swinton. Pass the school on the left and take a right turn onto the B6461 towards Berwick. After passing the church on your left continue along this road until eventually after several miles you will reach Paxton House on the right returning back to Paxton.
