Hardens Hill Woodland Walk

Hardens Hill lies about 3 miles from the market town of Duns. Although this wooded upland area lies just outside the Lammermuir Hills the far reaching views to the Cheviot Hills and Eildon Hills are breathtaking. This pleasant walk is not too strenuous and will take approximately 1hr.

From Duns town centre take the A6105 out of Duns towards Greenlaw. Just past the High School take a turning on the right towards Longformacus. Continue along this road passing through the golf course and travel up a hill noting the beautiful views on your left. At the summit of Hardens Hill on the right is the "smiffy hole" parking area.

1. From the Car Park follow the footpath signposted to Duns heading uphill through woodland.

2. Continue along this path as it threads its way through lush vegetation and pine trees before reaching a metal gate on the right revealing spectacular views over the town of Duns and beyond to the Cheviot Hills.

3. Continue to follow the path as it heads across the top of the hill with futher views on your right.

4. After about 1.25 miles the path bears to the right and is signposted downhill to Duns. (If you wish to continue this path will take you down through the woods before ending in the grounds of Duns castle).

5. Retrace your steps and return to the car park
