Lake Windermere
Lake Windermere is a ribbon lake about 10.5 miles long and about 1 mile wide, situated in the Lake District National Park. It is the largest natural lake in England and is a popular destination for holidaymakers. The lake contains 18 islands is populated by boats, ferries and yachts. The town of Ambleside is a mile from the lake shore and the village of Windermere is about 1/2 mile away. The village of Bowness-on-Windermere however sits beside the lake and is a popular tourist destination.
