Grasmere

Grasmere is an attractive village in the Lake District Nation Park. Grasmere sits on the banks of the River Rothay about 1/2 mile from the peaceful Lake Grasmere. The village, overlooked by the rocky hill "Helm Crag"  is a popular destination for hikers and tourists.  A number of walks begin in the village including the ascent of "Helm Crag". Grasmere is also on the route of "Wainwight's Coast to Coast Walk".

William Wordsworth lived with his sister Dorothy in Dove Cottage on the outskirts of Grasmere in a hamlet called Townend. Samuel Coleridge also spent some time at Dove Cottage. Grasmere Gingerbread, popular since the early 19th century continues to be made today
