Newcastle Upon Tyne

Tyne Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Newcastle Upon Tyne is an historic city in Tyne and Wear about 65 mile south of the Scottish border. The city is located on the banks of the River Tyne which is spanned by a number of bridges including the iconic Tyne Bridge. Newcastle is easy to get either by train or car. It is a 40 minute train ride from Berwick-Upon-Tweed or about 1hr 20 minutes from Paxton via the A1.

Newcastle is a vibrant city and the quayside and town centre are full of bars and restaurants.The town centre is a mix of modern and old, from the large shopping centre to the historic castle and town walls. Newcastle has a metro and a large railway station with trains to London, Scotland, the South West and the North West of England.  The city is home to Newcastle United Football Club at at James' Park which sits proudly overlooking the city. The city also hosts concerts and music events and has a large hospital and University.
